In 2009, the Foundation will celebrate its fifth anniversary and continue to expand its scope of activities. The Foundation is going to launch some new programmes and projects, including:
Transcript. Implemented jointly with the Yeltsin Fund, this programme promotes translation of Russian literature into foreign languages. The Foundation is going to subsidise translation and, in certain cases, publication of up to 30 fiction and non-fiction works (the latter in liberal sciences only). This project is a contribution to restoration of Russia’s image as a country with long-standing traditions and a dynamic modern culture.
New Writing is a modern fiction award that will be sponsored by the Foundation. Its innovative concept suggests that the election of winners will be a public process.
In 2010, the Foundation will contribute to the Year of Russia in France by sponsoring the Unknown Siberia Festival.
